SCOTT CARTER, Captain
Captain Scott grew up along the coast of Newport Beach, California. An avid surfer, fisherman and sailor, Scott became a well-rounded waterman at an early age. Just out of junior high, Scott worked for a local shipyard after school and as a deck hand cleaning fish aboard local sports fishers on weekends. After high school, Scott went on to graduate from the California Maritime Academy, earning his Unlimited Master license by the age of 28.
Since 1985, Scott has sailed across the globe aboard ocean-going vessels as a deck officer in the US Merchant Marines. He also served as an officer in the Naval Reserves for 30 years, wherein he attained the rank of Captain.
During his career, Scott has traveled to countless ports worldwide, yet his favorite destination has never changed – Gulf of California’s Sea of Cortez – known in the Spanish language as Mar de Cortés. In fact Scott maintains a home near Puerto Los Cabos with his wife Kimberly and two Labradors.
Through the years, Scott has acquired considerable knowledge of the Sea of Cortez and surrounding waters and looks forward to sharing his insights and experiences of the area – and a few of his personal secret spots – with his fellow travelers.
